Hi everyone, I'm a certified scuba diver from greenville sc and am very interested in freediveing. Looks like a lot of fun and a very enjoyable sport.

Id love to take a class but would have to find the time, as a diver I'm quite comfortable in the water and can equalize easily and rapidly.

As far as holding my breath I average 2 minutes dry with a pb of 310. Not really tried static in water much but 130 - 200is where I am.

I'm interested to know if there are any freedivers around me that could be potential buddies.

And to end this novel of a first post a question: how does normal dive gear fair in the freedivers relm?

I understand the diferences in theory quite well but you can't beat experience even if Its someone else's to be a little more specific I have a high volume mask full foot split fins and a 7/5 full wetsuit ( not a freedivers one haha )

hi Adam, welcome to db.
You would find the biggest difference with the fins - although all your kit could be improved on I think a pair of long fins should be your first investment.

Will defiantly invest in some gear once I am able to Persue the sport further, I'm thinking the depth I could hit with lonfins+ no formal training first might get me in trouble haha. I've gone 25-30 ft useing just my fins and a mask( haha found a grill on thw bottom of the lake) but thats the extent of my "freediveing". I'm thinking as far as first goes ide love someone local that knows what they are doing to .be a buddy or even better a class . Thanks for the advice, longings look great and could be used to outswim my scuba buddy during shark attacks
