Hello there! I'm a scuba diver from Scotland and am very interested in learning to free dive. I like the idea of diving without wearing heavy cumbersome scuba equipment. At the moment I'm researching where I can get some training, then perhaps I'll try to find buddies to free dive with. This weekend I decided to take the first baby step and go snorkelling at a place called Crail on the east coast of the area called Fife. I don't have any free diving kit, just my scuba gear, so I took my semi dry suit, fins, and guessed with 3 kilos on my weight belt. It was a bit of a disaster as the water was so cold and the waves were so strong they kept pulling me out to sea! So I abandoned my snorkel swim after only 20 minutes. My scuba club usually dives on the west coast of Scotland in locations such as Ballachulish where the waters are calmer. Although my first attempt was not a complete success, it did get me back in the water again after not diving for 3 months. Perhaps I may try another snorkel swim on the west coast next time. I do hope this year I'll be able to get myself on a beginners free diving course, where I may make some like minded buddies to go free diving or snorkelling with.
