DeeperBlue is one of my favourite sites to visit, but I never thought to join. Easy way to introduce: I run https://divelog.blue, a "photo-blogging" site of real-world dives from Japan to California. (The long way round!) The "blue page" started as a way to share dive photos with my young nephews. But I got a little carried away.
(That's me in Molokini, https://divelog.blue/article003.html)
I reckon I'm not alone here as somebody who grew up watching Cousteau, but land-locked. Now, many years later, every dive---no matter how humble---calls up that same sense of wonder.
I spend a lot of time in the water. Mostly free diving (weather permitting), then technical and recreational. This seems like the place to go for the strange questions that arise: e.g., how should I fold my fin socks? (https://divelog.blue/cgi-bin/dblg/public.html?entryid=79) How did that mysterious automobile find its way next to the HMS Maori in St Elmo Bay, Valletta, Malta? (We reckon a storm blew it out from shore---or a very, very clever prankster.)
Anyway. In Malta now. Where it's still cold, but warm enough in an open cell. Hello!
