My name is Suwat, I am here in Krabi Thailand also NAUI Instructor and scuba dive more then 30 years but i am new in Freediving. I am 70 years old. Am I too old to start Freediving or I am able to do this activity with out any problems. Your comment or advise will be appreciated.
Thanks / Suwat

You are NEVER too old to try something new!

You are already comfortable in the water, so, just ditch the tank, heavy weight belt, BCD, and be free.

Just go at your own rhythm, it's not a race.

Thank you for your valuable encourage.
I have started 3 month ago and I have fall love it.

As long as you don't have any medical contraindications to free diving, you can do it forever.

Hi Suwat,

As others have said, you are never too old if you enjoy diving…freediving.
I “officially” started apnea in a club, when I retired in 2004 (but had been practicing PMT since 1965).

Of course with the bankruptcy of the travel agency 'Thomas Cook' in Europe and later the 'COVID-19', it was in the Red Sea in October 2018 that I made my last descents.

Please see below what I enjoyed filming while of course freediving when I was 76.

To watch in 1080p ... at the end ... in real time up to 17.4 m

and a little trip in a cave ... at the end

Greetings

I have been Scuba diving since the 1970s and at the age of 70 continue to do so, including technical dives on shipwrecks. As you and I know, the ability to be comfortable and calm with good judgment is fundamental to Scuba. The same applies to Freediving. At the age of 68 I took a RAID freediving class and at 70 have been able to dive to 23 meters with enjoyment. I also love Freediving... as well as Scuba. If you haven't, I recommend taking a class from a professional instructor. Freediving can be quite dangerous when not performed correctly; and your knowledge and skills from training will contribute to your enjoyment of Freediving.
