I've just started learning to scuba. I've done a bit of snorkelling in Greece (Halkidiki to be more precise) and once I'd realised you can wear contact lenses with a mask was able to see the fish. And wanted to make a habit of it. Scuba is proving a whole new world to learn: so many things to remember all at once. I'm hoping to be able to dive in UK waters at least though people mention places like Dahab and Malaysia and I am suddenly full of daydreams. I've been to Malaysia but I don't think we even swam and besides it was many years ago.
New regime: less alcohol, swimming in the local pool twice a week, back on the bike more than I did before (I moved house a year ago, from central London to the outskirts with the idea of getting more cycling in but diving wasn't in my game plan - such as it was - at the time).

hi hogsmill welcome to db,
theres loads of info in the beginner section and a few clubs around the london area so sure to be one near you. No question on training alone as you will see and hear reading through the threads. Try to find a buddy or join a club is the best then you can push yourself that bit further.
