a few weeks ago it started - after those deep dives(5-7m) at the boyds bridge everyone sounded differant for a short while(like martains from mars). Then one day i dint really equilise that much and found it hard to =lize my left ear(at the time a was a little tinnie bit under the weather like, 1/inf sick) i dived down and my sense of direction went a little bad(on the x-axis(horizontal)), there was not pain at all not then not now
after the dive when i close my right ear(good ear) everyone has some crasy acent- the ausys sound like ausy accents
- some people sound like daffy duck
- some poeple sound like little miniture poeple
my hear is bad on that ear and sense of balance is ok-i think
sometimes my ear rings and sometimes i can hear my heart beat from it.
this all started on thursday last week(5days ago), i think it has repaired a little
i have decided not to dive again antil november
u guys know alot about this and maybe know what my condition is or have ways to help its recovery, plz help, thax

you've got a pressure problem in your ears, possibly perforated ear drum. You need to clear this ASAP.

In the first instance, get to a pharmacy and get some nasal decongestant. Otrivin will work good.

Secondly, get to a doctor, explain what you've done. Ask to be tested for BPPV.

Thirdly, get seen by an audiologist for a series of tests to see if your hearing improves/stays same/deteriorates.

No shitting bro, the longer you leave it, the more likely you're going to stay like this.

Sounds like perforation to me too. Never dive if your ears are not 100%.
Dizziness happens when water enters the middle ear so sounds like it got around or through your eardrum.
It will repair itself after a few months.
If u can't equalise fully on surface do not dive!!

right thax guys much appreciated, it dint not hurt whatsoever and still dosnt, i though a ruptured ear drum is painful?
i dint some trick where you warm 1/2 onion on the pan and put it on you ear with olive oil with a towel round your head, there was a lot of liquid which was in my ear --> dont know if it came out of my ear and helped or the heat created humidity which gathered water in my ear?
also shouldnt an infection hurt?

well surely someone on here must have had my exact symtoms befor--> like do you normally hear weird after a ruptured ear drum?

You sure do. I had both perforated 2 years ago when I picked up a viral infection.
Apart from experiencing unbelievable pain at the time a memorable side effect was hearing continual random whistling and everyone that spoke to me was either inaudible or they sounded really squeaky / high pitched.
I've only just returned to the water this year - best to seek professional advice as others have suggested.

chris, ive been to the doctor and he gave me antibiotics, he said if it should clear up by the end of the antibiotics, to be honist i think i should see a specialist on the ear and diving, mmmmmm --> that doctor sure did jump to conclusion fairly fast before i lay down all the details.
the hearing has recovered a little

year grant everyones a little squeaky/ high pitched in that ear but i had no pain what so ever, so times i can hear my heart beat from that ear while right now i can hear wiseling
but i had no pain at all --> weird hey
why do us divers even need ears?? - except in locating lots of fish (thats that crackling noise i hear right?) and croking

also can i put blue tack in my ear for a swim/surf, can i snorkel on the surface??

I wouldn't put blue tack in your ear!!!

If the doctor gave you anti-biotics you should not snorkel or even get your ear wet as it will increase the risk of infection. Get some ear plug to keep your ear dry when you shower until it heals.

well the antibiotics have finished today and i can really hear some good recovery in my ear's hearing and tuning (little less on the turning in fact). thaxs alot for your support guys.
ps what is that crackling sound i can here when diving? - is it fish?

kool cheers baldyfish for the support and knowlege and that gos to everyone else, im all better now but i think i should use aqua ear to evaporate any water i cant get out arfter a dive, a mate of mine endded up with bone growing in his ear cannal because it kept on getting inflamed and now water gets trapped in there.
