Hello all
first thread so please be gentle.

I have been free dive spearfishing since i was about 10 years old (nothing to serious just rec). i was sitting on the computer the other night and decided to do some research into ways to say down longer. As a result ive been glued to the computer reading and researching this subject, how fasinating!!!

I would like to learn alot more and im aware that most will advise i jump onto a professionally run course however my location in perth western australia may make this difficult and i dont have time at the moment to travell elsewhere.

Is there a book on the subject that you guys would recomend?
"Manual of Freediving: Underwater on a Single" by [ame="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/search-handle-url/105-8003658-2457266?%5Fencoding=UTF8&search-type=ss&index=books&field-author=Umberto%20Pelizzari"]Umberto Pelizzari[/ame], [ame="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/search-handle-url/105-8003658-2457266?%5Fencoding=UTF8&search-type=ss&index=books&field-author=Stefano%20Tovaglieri"]Stefano Tovaglieri[/ame] seems to be mentioned throughout the web, oppinions????

Also is there anyone who could provide me with the format for a basic training program??

I have got co2 and o2 tables off another thread and am putting them together to suit me, how many times a week should i be doing them?

any help would be greatly appreciated

thankyou

Hi jenks, welcome aboard. :)

I have got the 'Manual of Freediving' by Umberto Pelizzari. I think it is a good book, things have changed a bit since it was published and some techniques have become more/less commonly used, but it has a lot of useful guidance.

The training tables are usually done one at a time, either the CO2 or O2 table on a given day. I would do tables two or three times a week.

Lucia :)

Hello,

I am a newby also.

I have the same question and have come across most people saying two times a week.

But... is that 2 times a week total (1 O2 a week and 1 CO2) or is it 2 times a week each (2 O2 a week and 2 CO2 a week).

Thanks!

My instructor from diveFIT said: you can practice every day, but each day only one table.
