Hi all my name is Evonne I have lived in the Bahamas since I was 3 weeks old I was born in Montreal and just moved up in May 2010.
I am/was the top diver/fisherperson in my family including cousin in laws and so on. I have been free diving since I was 6 and spearfishing since I was 12.
I am a certified scuba diver
my spear of choice is the Hawaiian spear and sling, spear being 6 ft 3/8 spring stainless steel.
At 15 I started spearfishing professionally on weekends while attending school. at that age I was spearfishing free diving 45 ft maybe more.
at 18 I was spearfishing free diving 90 ft.
at 25 I was the capt. of a 54ft fishing boat total of 8 crew.
at 45 I was still pulling blue water depths.
Then both my Mom and Dad got sick and I spent 5+ years looking after them which I gained all kinds of weight as I was an only child and primary care provider for both until they past. Stress eating is not a good thing.
I did not know there was spearfishing in Canada and what a surprise it was to find out otherwise. It would be nice to learn about spearfishing up here.

Hello and welcome on DB also welcome back to sea world :D was nice bit tragedian short story...

All best
Just mentioned one of the reasons why I had to stop diving and spearfishing its not a tragedy it simple is what it is. I hope to get back into it soon I will never be as good as I was for a number of reasons.
