My name’s Jo, but some friends call me Mac.
I’m a bloke, living in Tarifa (Spain) in the Straights of Gibraltar, slap bang between the columns of Hercules.
I started freediving in August 2013 after years of being convinced I couldn’t go any deeper than a few meters underwater because my head felt like it’d explode. Then, I kind of discovered equalization by chance, learnt more about it, learnt much more about freediving, a certain guy called Boyle and nasal irrigation, and started exploring the deep blue.
My life has pretty much been ‘on da beach’ for the last 30 years, kitesurfing, surfing, windsurfing but I love climbing mountains, trekking, writing and singing an old song or two too, not all at once of course. I have 3 gorgeous girls and have just become a granddad believe it or not. Must be one o’ the youngest in the world.
