Hello all. I'm retired from the Canadian army and now teach bushcraft and wilderness living skills (now only on a contract basis) and I'm hoping to return to freediving.
My work took me to a lot of places and I've dived in New Zealand, Australia, Samoa, Fiji, Hawaii, Somolia, Kenya. All shallow in the 15-20 metre range and very recreationally. Haven't done it in 20 years or so, but plan to get back at it.
This might be TMI, but I consider myself an environmentalist and conservationist and believe that climate change and these issues need serious and immediate attention. And, I only eat plants.
Really looking forward reading some posts and getting some questions answered and hopefully connecting with some like minded people.
I'm blown away at how much information there is about this sport now!

Welcome to Deeperblue! I heartily recommend taking a freediving course. There is no better way to improve your technique and develop safety protocols. Many of them are organized and/or taught by champion freedivers, so you'd be learning from the best. I have heard nothing but good things about them.

Many of us on the forums also believe conservation is vital. I myself studied natural resources in college. While that is not my current occupation, it has made a lasting impression on my view of the world.

Thanks for the welcome! I plan to take a course with PFI in British Columbia late this summer or early spring 2018.
