I have been reading topics on this forum for a while now and decided to join.

Any tips on where to start diving/snorkelling for shellfish in Guernsey?

Yeah I will do! Just got carried away reading on goggles and equipment I would need.

Is there a norm for wetsuit thickness in Guernsey waters? How deep would you dive to start off?

5mm is what we mainly use, by a custom fit one for about £140 if you can afford it.
You dont need to dive at all to catch bass & mullet & you can certainly catch any fish if you can dive 3mt.

3M Sounds great was thinking of 10M. Any point trying Soldiers bay or The Bridge area?

Soldiers bay is pretty deep straight of the beach & a hell of a hike with a weight belt!
But yes you can get all the species including scallops there.
Bridge, well not my first choice due to boat traffic & very strong tide but again a good spot on occasions.
Try the bays like Chouet, grand havre area or the islands around Bordeaux but stay close to shore as there is very strong tide outside the islands.
