This summer my wife and I kept a promise to our 7 yr old and took the kids on a whale watch. The result was that it sparked an interest for the life aquatic within my kids and renewed my own interest in diving. As a result I am working on introducing my kids to snorkeling and wish to develop my own freediving (and spearfishing) skills in a safe manner. I am here to learn and share knowledge as my own skills devlop.

Welcome from Texas! Get the kiddos some of the inexpensive uw throw away cameras and let them start journaling their dives and keep a scrap book of pics.

Good idea! Thanks for the suggestion. Also curious what part of Texas you are from. I was stationed at Ft Hood for many years and had an interesting encounter with a big alligator gar while snorkeling in Stillhouse Lake.

I'm just south of San Antonio--but we have big gar in the creeks and rivers around here too. Choke Canyon SP has HUGE gators. Don't forget the water moccassins.

They can be agressive! I had to pul the d'Artanion (sp) and "fence" one away several times. They also do not like being bashed with a paddle! :martial Like sharks though the incidents are rare. PM me if ever in this neck of the woods.
