Hello out there,

New to free dive/ spearing. This coming Saturday will do my first dive. I'm a lil nervous.

There's a few things that get me worry besides been attacked I still have to get use to my gear. I had some diving before with practically no gear. So this time will be little different.

My wet suit: I got a 7mm Cressy technica wetsuit that I have not try yet. My worry is that I try to put it on and I found it very difficult to put it on, is this normal? I bought it according to manufacture size chart but is so tie:-)

How deep should I start considering this will be my first time? I'm a virgin :-)

Anyways I will let u know how it went once I do it.

Saludos a todos:-)

Ramon :-)

Hey Ramon, welcome to Deeperblue. You're in my general neck of the woods, in terms of usual diving grounds. I did my certification dives at the Breakwater and off of Del Monte Beach, and some freediving there as well. You may also want to look up the Monterey Tritons club.

Regarding your suit, is the inside covered in cloth, or is it open cell? With open cell, your skin is right up against the rubber. This makes the suit warm, but it can be hard to get into if it doesn't have a certain type of lining. I mix hair conditioner and water in a spray bottle and spray the inside of my wetsuit before I put it on. It makes the process very easy.

I recommend that you find some local divers. You can browse our forums, use the search function, and check out the International Buddy Network, USA/Canada. See if any DB members have posted from Monterey and leave a message in their threads. This forum has a wealth of information. Above all, have fun and be safe.

I'd go myself and meet you, but I have to work this weekend :(

I'm confused. You said that Saturday will be your first dive, but you show a picture of you (or someone) holding a nice catch.

Is this a joke, or am I just missing something?

Jeje:-) I do kayak fishing , that's an old pic :-) I know where the fishing spots are. Now I just want to be able to go down deep and pick the fish I want :-) I'm exited:-)
