My name is John and I'm new to the forums and freediving.
I've been lurking around the forums for quite a while now and I have become quite curious over some things.
I can hold my breathe for 1:10 without too much problem, but I am scared of going further. (normal breathing, static dry and water is pretty much the same). I can also swim 30m dynamic, through normal breathing and normal breath hold.
I have seen some charts showing SAO2 vs time, and I have noticed that their SAO2 levels don't fall much at all until 2-3 minutes in. A chart showing Walrus' change in SAO2 was very intersting as it took so long to drop, he lasted 7 minutes I think.
I was wondering if anyone could take a guess at how long I could safely stay under water. By "safely", I realise that there is always a risk. But.... you kind of get what I mean.
If anyone could help me, I'd like to know how long the average athletic person could hold their breathe before their SAO2 drops below 95%, 90% and 85%?
I am a 17 years old, do a LOT of cardiovascular fitness and weights etc.
Also, what happens if I hold my breathe for so long I lose consciousness while doing a dry static. Will my brain kick-start my automatic breathing? Not that I will try and hold my breath for that long, but I'm just curious.
