how to install a metal cone on a spearshaft?

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Do you a mean a cone in front of a flopper? If so, make sure it is the proper size, slide it on, and epoxy it. Make sure that the epoxy doesn't get in the flopper and keep it from moving freely, ansd make sure teh cone isn't touching the flopper.

Thanks Bill. Looking on your pic looks like your cone in SS steel and what I have is - I guess - copper alloy (from Sigalsub, brownish color).
I have checked and the cone is for 7mil shaft; the inner diameter of the cone is slightly smaller that the shaft diameter so it will not slide freely.
I tried today to warm the cone with a gas lamp, but I have ruined it.
I guess that I have to find a way to force slide it to the shaft.

I don't think you'll have much luck forcing it. You need a cone made for the exact diameter of your shaft.

Another option is to buy a shaft with the cone already installed. Last year I bought an Abellan Albacore 120 and the 8 mm Hunt shaft that came with it had a cone already welded on. I believe Hunt is an Italian company. Another nice feature that I like about the Hunt shafts is that they have a mini-tab about 14 inches from the rear end with a line attachment hole. This keeps the wishbones from getting involved with the bands.

This thread is in the wrong place and I have start it here by mistake.

I don't think you'll have much luck forcing it.
You're right Bill. I've tried today and didn't worked.

But I have installed the Sigal cones on Sigal shafts and it works perfect. The tip of the shaft has a very fine thread, the cone slide almost freely. If the cone gets stuck, just rotate it (like a nut on a bolt). The thread will end exactly where the cone suppose to be, so there is no chance for the cone to block the flopper.
If there is anyone that fix a Sigal cone on a different shaft, it is interesting to see how.
