Hi guys...:

I just got myself a flasher. We intend using it to attract wahoos, jacks, ... who knows what... How deep do you think one should hang the flasher. We usually fish over sunken rocks which are 20 to 30 meters deep. Here lots of bait fish congregate. I have noticed that larger predators stay a little on the edges of these formations.

I was going to hang the flasher close to the surface, maybe 2 or 3 meters... or what right below the surface???

What do you think is better for tropical water species in these conditions..

Thanks for your advice... ;)

All the talk I have heard of flashers is to use them toward the surface. I went hunting recently with someone who put them about 60 feet down. It made no sense to me, because by the short time the fish could check it out, they would be gone before we could swim to them. Needless to say the flashers didn’t do anything for us at that depth.

I rigged mine on a spool so I can let out as much as I need to. I just have a heavy duty rubber band that goes across the face of the spool. I usually have mine at 3-7m depending on the conditions and the type of fish. The conditions have been pretty poor here all summer so I haven't had much of a chance to use them. We have had very poor vis and cooler water than normal, so it has thrown the fishing off quite a bit. We are coming into the best time of year here so hopefully the water clears and the fish show up.
