I do need help on choosing a fin between the CF and plastic?

hi guys,

I`m a new comer here and beginner on free diving, but real like it, now i need buy a fin, but really confused which blade i should choose, some people say CF and some people say that the CF not that better than plastic, only expensive, anyone can help me, thanks a lot.

i would like to buy one between the BREIER CF and the BEUCHAT Mundial one.

I use both CF and plastic (C4 Falcon and a Cressi Gara 3000). No doubt for me: the CF has a better response, but is more expensive and also more sensitive. In the ocean, when the see is a bit rough I often prefer the Cressi as they turn out to be practically undestroyable...

If you're looking for something in between, why not consider fibreglass? It's usually considered better than plastic, but not quite as expensive as CF.

In my opinion it depends what you need these fins for. If they are for recreational freediving or spearfishing up to 20m, plastic fins will be OK for sure. If you want to dive deep or stay in water for 5 hours and swim long distances or you need good fins for max DYN attempts in the pool, carbon may be a better option. Carbon fins are also much better for very cold water because plastic ones become very stiff under such conditions.
I use Beuchat Mundial Competition for two years and I like them very much.

Getting a good footpocket is key to comfort and performance.

Next comes blade stiffness

Last in importance (but still a relevant / valid factor) comes material choice.

Fiberglass fins are a huge step up from plastic in terms of efficiency, durability, and performance. My plastic blades wore out and became so floppy that I was afraid they wouldn't get me off the bottom. Then I bought Edge fiberglass blades in Picasso foot pockets, and was amazed at the difference. When friends recommended carbon fiber, I thought I might try them when the fiberglass wore out.

The problem was that they never wore out. After a few years, they were exactly the same as when I bought them. So about a year ago I bought Moana CF blades in Pathos pockets. They didn't give me as much increase in performance as the fiberglass did over the plastic, but the improvement was still significant.

thanks a lot guys, i will choose the plastic one then as i ma just level 1, and plan to buy a good single fin for the advance level, is it a good choice ?
