In San Diego contact Guardian Charters. I'm not sure about full kit but I know they recently bought a big tuna gun for the use of customers. There is a dive shop, James and Joseph, that may rent other equipment.
I just checked with Kyle Faust of Guardian Charters. He tells me that he has guns and some fins, depending on size. Other things can be rented at J&J which is right down the street.
mate, in San Francisco you need to go a bit up north, out of the "Red Triangle" of great white territory.
Check out Stillwater Cove, they have a campground, fish cleaning table, etc. We got a nice ling cod (the spearo's pick in these waters) there last weekend.

Thanks for the offer. I would have loved to join you. Im only in San fran for 3 nights and its bit far for me to travel for the day. Plus I'm with the wife and kids. Much appreciated though!
