Introducing Dolphin Dance Project

Hi all,

I'm a NYC-based dancer, dance educator and film maker using freediving skills to dance underwater with wild dolphins.

I'm looking forward to learning more about freediving and connecting with other freedivers through this forum.

Diving (like dancing) with spotted dolphins is one of my all time favorite diving types of diving. Your films do a great job of showing the free flowing intertwining grace that divers and dolphins can make together. From experience, its a lot harder than it looks.

Furthermore, get some longer fins with a bigfootpocket angle and longer fiberglas blades.

Maybe you want to dive with just a small noseclip (like William Truebridge).

I'm sorry I don't buy into the elitist overpopulation view.

How do I get in touch with Igor Liberti? Do I find him through this forum somewhere?

I appreciate your suggestions about gear. I will consider them. I have never found a suitable noseclip for my rather small nose. Do you have suggestions? Also, if we go without masks, we would probably need contact lenses, as it's important to see the dolphins, and especially to be able to gaze into their eyes to make the connection to dance together...

I'm not sure what you mean about 'elitist overpopulation view'. I do think that the fact there are so many homo sapiens on the planet stresses the environment; but I do not think that is an elitist view. I hope that being more in touch with nature (not necessarily dolphins, but any kind of nature) can help us all embrace values that could lead to a better balance between humans and non-humans.

I think the environmental issue is one that is need of nuance. I'm weary of all the politicians, NGO's, industries, think tanks, celebrities who are so happy to lead people into a place where we need to ask them for permission to do anything, anything, including but not limited to having a child.

Wear transparent goggles, and a synchro swimming noseclip.

You can because you're not diving too deep I think from the video I've seen.
Alternatively a fully transparent Aqualung Sphera mask. (near 180 degree view, less head turning, better situational awareness)

I imagine dolphins would like to see you blowing some bubble rings. Also FRC diving maybe beneficial because you'll have less buoyancy to overcome, and can just sink down instead of 'rush down'.
