Happy Xmass all, and Happy new year.

Long time Looker, but mostly Scubadiver, so I dont post alot.

I was just looking for a Scuba mask there for the last hour or sso, And I came across subprof.com where I noticed that apnea masks, which are nearly 100% the same as Scuba masks, except lower volume and cheaper, but they all have two lenses and I would prefer a single lens.

So my question is do any of you know a site where I can get a single lens frameless black mask.

Tusa do this http://www.divelife.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=2281 one. Also this http://www.simplyscuba.com/products/TUSA/ConceroFramelessMask.aspx I used to use a Tusa "Platina" which was very good. It lasted years 'til one of my sons stood on it in the bottom of a kayak.

Second time having to cancel a dive and im getting frustrated!:head Next time Sunfish. Big low pressure moving in from the south unfortunately. Looks like were gonna have a long wait to get wet. Although the wind will be easterly, so the west coast may be diveable, but that may be wishful thinking with all this heineken inside me!:friday

The roads seemed fairly clear this morning so I went to the western side of Courtmac bay for a look. Vis looked do-able so in I went. Vis turned out to be about one metre. I swam round the point seeing nothing. I then put my float back in the car, put on my sandals and walked to the beach, where I tried both ends still seeing no fish.
I'm thinking of driving West tomorrow to pick up a few scallops in the bays.(I'm fed up of blankingrofl).

going to Kerry for week. i will see whats conditions of sea. definitely will try diving for scallops. will see how it goes. any body like to join ? or ... if its not dive able maybe hang out for few pints some where ?

I met up with Jonny, Filipe and Denis out West today. Water was cold (9 degrees) but not as cold as the sea near me (7 degrees). Vis was way better too at around 3-4 metres. We got a fair haul of shells from a new spot. We skimmed back the surplus and still had plenty!
Jonny and myself both had sinus equalizing problems, maybe due to the coldness of the water. Anyone know if temperature has any effect on sinuses?

I'd guess the tubes could be more constricted in colder water making it harder. Funny to see 9 degrees there and 7 nearby. Its 7 up here in the north west anyway. Nice haul of scallops.

It was 5 degrees in salthill on christmas day in Galway. But there was some freshwater influncing that.

I had a slight head cold sunfish so that might be the reason for my sinus being blocked. diving a long time and never experienced that before.
Nice pic of me undressing fillipe! poor fella's hands were frozen stiff! my new gloves and socks worked a treat. didnt feel cold at any point and actually got out with warm hands!
kept 16 scallops, released the rest. My computer registered 8 degrees and max depth of 11.8m which nearly imploded my head due to my sinus being blocked. vis, 3-4m and a great dive and great to be back in after so long! sore ankles now due to lack of diving.rofl
Off to make weights now!

Last year was not so good for fishing as I had a surgery for problems with sinuses...:crutchhowever all is fine now and I hope this year I can enjoy sf and freediving...:king Of course greek islands are waiting, if you are thinking of a summer trip down here...it will be fun...:friday

Me and donnachad made weights today. Got a mould off a friend. each one wieghed .55kg and we made 59! tough work but we have enough to do us a lifetime! 2-3 years saving scraps of lead (and old fishing weights found on the beach while walking the dog) paid off!

I drove out West today. Vis short but OK, water flat, wind very gentle, water 8-9 degrees.
It was a very enjoyable dive in the bright winter sunshine. I got two dozen scallops in an hour then poked around the reefs for another hour but found no crabs or fish.
I met the people who live in the house near the jetty and gave them eight shells. I kept a few for myself and tossed the rest back in.
I'm thinking of going East tomorrow to look for fish. The vis won't be up to much and I probably won't catch anything but I'm looking forward to it.

ypu don't have a how to, or a link to one? battered a bit of old roofing lead into ~1kg lumps last year, But I'd prefer to make them a bit neater.... and i'd like to make some for some mates.... there is a bit of old lead hanging around here.
