Do you know a good (also not good..:t) shop for diving/spearfishing in Kinsale, or Cork ?
This in case of emergency, if I loose/damage something, since with Ryan Air I cannot bring with me all the gear I wish...

Are you sure about the VAT thing? The price tag in the italian link says "IVA 20% compresa", which means, literally, that the price is VAT included. IVA is the italian VAT, and prices at italian online stores are always declared "IVA compresa". I should investigate if there's any specific issue with exports....
I'd be surprised that they can charge italian IVA+irish VAT together. I don't really think so. But if you're interested in the deal, I can make a phone call to Marco Vacca. the shop owner, and ask him how's the VAT thing with Ireland and UK. If you want me to I can make it for you.

You should be able to bring it in straight from anywhere in the eu once the vat is charged in the country itself. if you have a vat number they will send it out ex vat but the understanding is you would be reselling it here and therefore charging vat at the sale and giving that to our gov.

Munster dive is closest but no spearfishing gear is sold in ireland!! If u need to loan something im sure one of us could oblige.

This looks quite weird to me ! Is it "illegal" to sell spearfishing gear over there ? Or the reason is the lack of commercial convenience ?

Sometime between the nineteenseventies and eighties most scuba divers here decided they didn't want to spearfish anymore. It became so unfasionable that most divestores here will tell you that it's illegal. Occasionally you might find spearfishing gear somewhere. I bought my first speargun from an angling shop here in Clonakilty six or seven years ago. A Beauchat mundial pro 110cm.
If you have a rubber belt we can loan you weights for it.

I should succeed in bringing all my weights sharing them between my luggage and my wife' s. But if someone of you guys of the area of Cork leaves me his number I could contact you in in case of real gear emergency..
I had yesterday my last dive in the "homesea" before leaving: "african" conditions with 30°C on the surface and very good visiblility..
This was the result..

..."belted bonitos". We call them "palamite" (sarda sarda).
They reach the North Adriatic in summer, with water temperature >22°C, but never approach to the shores.. You have to sail at least 10 miles out.. The technic is a kind of "blue water hunting".. It's a powerful and fighting fish, very amazing to catch !

Hi Lads, glad you enjoyed the course pity the sun didn't grace us with its presence but hey its Ireland after all. You were an easy bunch to get along with and it was great to put faces to all the names from here. I hope to get back to loch hyne before the end of September would love to explore it a bit more as well, have to check out the rapids etc and maybe some of you guys could make a break up here some weekend and we can try and go a little deeper.

hi lads, looking for some advice from you cork boys.
i am heading off on a holiday with the family next saturday to cork. staying in courtmacsherry for 1 week. looking for advice on two things
first, where could i bring some kids (teenagers) snorkelling, somewhere not too far from court mac and where they will see some fish and have fun
second i am looking for somewhere to go spearing myself if i get away from the kids for a few hours. dont want to know anyone's best spots just somewhere where i can bag a fish or two.
any help would be greatly appreciated
