On a more pleasant note I am planning to visit Castlegregory Co.Kerry for the wknd next week are you familiar with the area Rafa ?? Obviously depending on weather I'm planning to get plenty of diving in over the the wknd anyone about that weekend and fancy a dip ?
Went to Dalkey after work last wednesday vis was 3m max in places and the current was absolutely honking as it was just after the low managed 1 pollack about 3lbs which I was happy with considering the conditions saw a massive cuckoo wrasse biggest I've seen they are such pretty fish. Hoping to try for bass this weekend if the wind stays down !

Ah you dubs and yer funny calendars. Ya I'm going "this weekend" which is the next weekend coming as opposed to the weekend after next. Dunno if I'll be diving coz were visiting and don't want to push my luck. Never worth it
no you're right, but in the past, now and hopefully the future things like this can be discussed by an unbiased collective here on DB and the moral position can be determined by this collective and we can decide the best course of action. I wonder the outcome on a different forum and website.
Unfortunately you personally have admitted to speaking and writing his language but refuse to contact him. I can't figure out your motivation (or possibly lack there of) but it seems that you have some chip on your shoulder about how things went over the last few weeks, but I'm honestly surprised that someone who was advocating conservative Irish spearing last week would stand idle and not do more now.
especially as you still appear to post as Irish spearing association on facebook (along with Vasile and someone called Vit?) frankly I'm not really sure who this association is exactly. Your arguments with jonny above confound things further!!!
basically I can't help but feel you are using this to further some objective, but I'm damned if I can see what exactly?

I see nothing wrong to give fish to my dog . what is different if u buy a fish in supermarket or u spearfished . do u think dogs food makers , mix a sea bass fillets in a dry dog food. dogs diet is not only on fish or dry LIDL food . if a have to prepare fish for my dog it has to be a fillet with out any pin bones in it . how much work he have to put in it , to make a wrasse fillet ? hard work
on other hand, i'm not saying is good to be posting about salmon or trout. but he is not saying that he spearing them. again to me is lack of information on legislation's .

Hi, All I am saying is that instead of e-mailing individuals there is couple ways of doing this globally. I am not going to e-mail every single polish guy spearfishing in this country if there is way of doing this more efficiently.
On the other hand how will I find all of those guys ? The point is that they have to find us before they start creating BLOGs like this or putting videos on youtube.
Seating here and picking individuals (calling them by different names) it is really west of time in my opinion.
But I can be wrong please correct me if so

If you do manage a dip this weekend as opposed the following weekend which would be next weekend let me know how you get on the area looks good on the satellite images .
Hate to rub salt into the wound but our friend with the website also has a link to the spearing regs in poland and how restrictive they are he complains :duh

:wave . Anyone got any more thoughts on a spearo wknd yet ? Think the triggerfish trip is a must and a wknd in Sligo . Maybe Cork or Waterford I'm easy never tried Clare !

Ah...if you thinking to go to Clare just let me know...I´m really still thinking about that big conger + those lobbies. I took the land marks so definitly know where that area is!

Well I think every single person agrees we need a website with the regs asap. Perhaps not a new forum and perhaps we really do not need too many associations.
But until we have a website its up to us to protect our sport. What anyone does affects us in some way... what if the fisheries or angling groups see these videos and get spearing banned before we have the correct info online... its not just for us but for people who observe spearo's.
Also I think its worse when it is a foreigner and I would have thought legitimate spearo's like yourself would work even harder to correct foreigners that will give people like you a bad name. If I was spearing legitametly in Poland and i heard of an irish man doing things wrong I would be first to reach out and correct him.

Danas I disagree about spearing wrass specifically for feeding a dog. Y not pollock?? Did the dog ask for wrass in particular??
Climbingperch: Spent alot of time up in Castlegregory over the last few years, never dived it as it picks up any West or Nwest swells so can be abit rough.
As it's summer we're getting mostly SW swells so might be decent, if you head all the way around the bay there's alot of rocky outcrops which might be decent.
Also there is an island not to far from land, it's out past Spillans bar.

Johnny, do u think reaction on forum will be different if he mention a pollock ?
couple years ago i went to Achill island, met some local fishermen who had a net full of wrasse and dog fish. when i ask him what he is planing to do with it , he sad , that he use them as crab and lobster bait . to my opinion is better to feed dog with natural food - wrasse , pollock , sea bass or any other fish, then wasted in a pots or in a fish factory's synthesize and making a fish flour .
my point is that everything has to have a personal limit.
Bycatch is what they use danas. Not specifically targeted. Two whole different things. These guys use fish that are would normally be put back dead to good use. The guy in question targets them specifically to feed a dog. I'm all for feeding dogs good food, even fish (as I do myself) but I don't target an easy fish that is very slow growing to feed my dog. My dog gets what I don't eat or else dog food.
We can argue this all year but it's just my opinion that taking that many flounder and posting pics inviting anyone to do same is a bad idea. The point I made about wrasse is specifically from an ecological point of view. There a delicate creature and there is no sport in targeting them for feeding dogs. In my opinion it's shooting for the sake of shooting something if your not going to eat it yourself.
