, There was no answer in this thread for more than 90 days.

We can argue all day long on this mater the best thing is to express our opinions in his blog too, and that way he will realize or the potential visitors realize that is an isolate case and this is not a widely practice activity in Ireland and we don't agree with the spearfishing promoted in his blog.
Cheers for the info man I heard there is good seafood in that bar too. Looking forward to it now I'm sure ill find somewhere to get in !Climbingperch: Spent alot of time up in Castlegregory over the last few years, never dived it as it picks up any West or Nwest swells so can be abit rough.
As it's summerwe're getting mostly SW swells so might be decent, if you head all the way around the bay there's alot of rocky outcrops which might be decent.
Also there is an island not to far from land, it's out past Spillans bar.
lads just read the last few pages on here and its really buggin me... do people think they can just get a gun online and go shoot whatever they want.... even if there is a spearfishing organisation its not gonna make one bit of difference to these people... we all searched spearfishing ireland when we first started out and either ended up here or on feargus site which explains the basic rules....theres no excuse whatsoever for this... i think in one way the quicker we do get some sort of liaison with the fishery board and get something put into law the better...if you search spearfishing ireland now theres 2 sites...both coming soon...spearfishingireland .com and .ie....and then the spearfishing ireland facebook page...somehow i think just one official page would be enough with rules and regulations being the main focus...apart from that a link to the irish forum on here to ask any questions they might have, theres so much experience on deeperblue it would be a shame not to utilise it...will be good to have something behind us when the s**t does hit the fan because the way its goin now its only a matter of time... not having a swipe at you zara but whats this advanced spearo thing all about...do we gotta do some exam to qualify for this....dunno why you dropped out of the project but whatever was said here was just constructive criticism...after all were all here for the good of the sport...i think we should all be as one on this instead of running off doin our own thing there is too much at stake on this...is there any update on when this organisation will be up and running, hopefully soon.... right thats my two cents worth anyway...
Hi, kookiebrew You are 100% right about it. There should be only one website
appearing very high in the google. So if someone is looking for any information about speargun or low volume mask in IE will visit this irish website and will read all the content about legislations in this country.
However I was suggesting alternative user friendly forum for members as it helps to promote website in google and every other country has forum like this but you guys don't want one so I understand this and I am ok with our decision.

its prob the irish mentality zara.... if not broken dont try and fix it... would be great to just be posting about our days spearing but with all these vids popping up its really getting under peoples skin...
Managed a trip out last night after work, went to a spot near the Old head I found recently, lovely sandy bottom with patches of reef and kelp.
I must have been in for 2.5 hours and only managed a small Pollack, loads of nice sized ones but could'nt hit anything..maybe old age is catching up on me and I need glasses.
Anyway in the end I gave up, the fog was coming in making it very dark so admitted defeat.

Quick review on the weekend...! Windy windy all over the place, none dive on Saturday although we (+Vasile) spot few further spots that might deserve a go next time, but we saved ourselfs for Sunday. Today we had the company of Zaratustra but again the windy didn´t helped... Meanwhile the water had 8 to 10 meters visibility (around Cahermore, Beara), couple of juvenile fish but couldn´t go far away from the small entry bay due to the wind... We all saw as well a school of huuuuuuge sand eels...When we say huge we are talking about 20 to 27 cm.... never seen nothing like that. Great spot in the end, but definitly the water was too choppie, but underwater was really interesting.
Apart from that, 2 other moments that shocked us. 1st - We saw a sheep falling from the cliffs....no comments here really,and 2nd, we saw dozens and dozens of dead mutilated (huge ones!) brown crabs just near the pier (probably to sell exclusively the claws!). We saw in the pier 3 large boxes underwater with lobbies, and about 1 to 3 meters in the from of the pier, this disgusting "show" that I will never ever forget guys.... Apart from that, a huge conger and few dead dogfishes in that area as well.... Now... we took few pictures + videos and we will forward to the authorities, that the minimum that we can do, I think that it´s just too much obvious what happen there, although no thoughs will be made, although if they asked for my opinion I´ll have a clear idea where A will match B to get the C....! If we didn´t dive would be discover?... no not at all my friend, although we spearos don´t see the ocean untill the surface, we see the ocean as the ocean it is because during that time that we are diving, would you like or not, you are a part of it.
But... is it ilegal to do that?... Unfortunatly I don´t think so, but ethically I think that´s just the worst thing that someone can do in the name, first of a quick profit, and second in the name of a completly disrespect from nature, sustainability and from himself as an "fisherman".

The brown crab were taken for their claws, commercially it is very difficult for a boat to sell large quantities of claws on their own but it doesn't take many crab to make a big visual impact in a small area especially around a pier (crab shells take a very long time to decay). There are rules and regs to clawing and most fishermen follow them because of how easily crabs are susceptible to shell disease, which can wipe out stocks.
The lobsters are in store pots to be sold, it is strange that they are so near the pier, it wouldn't happen in my area.
As for the dogs and congers, both are good bait for lobster pots so I doubt that a commercial fisherman would have thrown them overboard when they could have been salted and used.
Remember, if you are going to go reporting people, think of the position you are in. The commercial guys have their licence and the hobby boats have their rights. Where do you stand? Be careful when picking your fights.

Did u get a video of the sheep falling off ? Didn't think they were supposed to fall off like that still I suppose they are sheep not goats !
