Hello, freedivers!

I have practiced co2 table for 2 weeks. At first, I started to hold my breath for 1 minute and breathe up for 1:30 seconds, doing 8 cycles by reducing the duration of resting time (by 10 second).
After practicing the table for a few days, I felt comfortable holding my breath during the targeted time. So, now I increased the fixed breath hold from 1:20 to 1:30, which is challenging.

My question is;
Is it normal to feel more uncomfortable holding my breath at 1st cycle out of 8 cycles than the rest of the cycles? Every time I try to do it, the first cycle is the hardest part, and gradually I feel I get used to contraction.

Cheers!

p.s. English is not my first and second language, but a foreign language. I hope my English is good enough to make you understand my question..

This is absolutely normal. The first hold is always the most difficult one, the following ones cause less discomfort (warm up effect).

Thanks for your relieving reply. I will keep doing the table, accepting the warm up effect!

This is so much the case that I did a reduced first hold when I trained CO2 tables. To be able to cope psycologically with a harder table.

Yes , it is normal. I advise you to take your personal best time every week and update your table according to your PB time.
