I've never been taught this but picked this trick up while scuba diving if I didn't have a hand free. I recently started using it for freediving.
What I sometimes do is hold my tongue to the roof of my mouth and try to forcefully exhale without letting any air out. I'll get a whining or squeaking sound when I do this. Doesn't always work but don't use it very often.
After re-reading the Fattah Frenzel (could only get the text) I want to re-define what it is that I think I'm doing. When I say that I'm holding my tongue to the roof of my mouth it seems that I'm holding the back of my tongue to the back of the hard palate which feels right but apparently isn't. I When I try to move further back to the soft palate I'm almost gagging and feels like I'm swallowing my tongue. Does that sound right? I'm also a little dizzy working on this but guess that will pass. When this is done correctly should I be getting a squeaking or whining sound every time? Hope I'm on the right track.
