Is this watch good for measuring depth?

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
You don't need a watch. What you DO need, is a good piece of rope, which will probably cost you as much as you're planning to invest in a watch. You can then proceed to make marks on the rope and you know how deep your plate is.

If you insist on a watch, you can buy a cheapo water resistant watch, and time your dives. From the rope you know how deep, from the watch you know how long...

I bought a "Prolog" cheapo watch, water resistant to 100 meters, and it has worked very well since 2006 - I've even changed the battery once without losing water resistance - and I've been down to 30 meters deep with it regularly. I also made good markings on a rope, and the estimated depth has been very accurate when tested with a friends' diving computer.

Interesting.. I'll definitely have that in mind.

One thing is freediving, another spearfishing :D

Another good computer: Beuchat New Mundial 2 Depth Gauge. Instruments-computers Depth gauge, Scubastore.com, buy, offers, dive
Its practicaly same like Aeris F10v2 :)

Ok, regarding the watch here's my update. As I said earlier,
I bought a water resistant G-shock, pretty cheap ($70 with
taxes and shipping). I had to instruct the courier to leave it
in my apartment door (small building, I kind of trusted the
neighbours) for a few hours until I come back to get it and
sure enough it was stolen.

Now I have no money to invest on a good watch (or rope)!
I'll go buy a cheap casio f91w or something. At least I learnt
a lesson about my neighbours and how inflexible UPS is.

Keep watching Leisure Pro - occasionally and randomly they will list the F10 for around $239 shipped. Myself and a couple others have gotten one at this price but it is very random when this price is shown

how do you turn off the mares nemo excel watch? I want to conserve battery life.
