Isle of Wight spearo

i'm on the island for the weekend and wondered if anyone had any advise on where to go bearing in mind the northerly winds. I'm assuming north of the island would be best?
Any advise would be appreciated.

I have never been there but from looking on google maps i would personally stay away from the East of the Island because of all the ships coming out of Portsmouth and to the North is Southampton all ships will create bow waves and swell in the sea which is great for churning up food for the fish so brilliant if your fishing with a rod but not so good for a spearo as there will be less visual under the water. The West coast looks like it might be the best option.

I do not know the island as well as I would like, but if your used to the visbility on the north coast of the solent, your in for a real treat! Make sure you know the tidal heights, the water can move real fast on a spring, normally taking you along the coast, however some parts of the island will have the flow heading to and away from land............ knowledge is power! Brochman is right, the solent is well known for bad visiblity for very good reason, the east and west extremes of the island can have exceptional vis though, I can personally vouch for this.
