For those who are interested, here are the results of the JB Italian Championship. The final match was cancelled due to bad weather conditions.

No one was disqualified, two new world record set in both categories (CMAS)

Can you clarify, does the total distance indicate the distance travelled around the cube, or does it also include the 15m descent, 15m ascent? i.e. for 137.7m, is that 107.7m around the cube, +30m ascent/descent? Or is it 167.7m total, including the ascent/descent? It would be interesting to see the dive times, and were the competitors all using bifins?

Congrats to the winners and competitors! This competition really appeals to me....more like spearfishing or actual recreational diving in my mind.

Interesting that Monica Barbero has done 160m+ in dynamic, yet only managed 90m on JB.

Ok,

some explanations.

In the JB you count 15 meters down + orizzontal distance + 15 meters up.

So if you do one complete lap, you make 15 + 60 + 15 = 90 meters.

Please consider that:

- each athlete has two attempts

- after that, the best 8 make it to the final, which consists in other 2 attempts (not the same day!)

- in this champ, each athlete had only 2 attempts, because the final was cancelled

- Monica Barbero was not feeling well, anyway we'll have a chance to see what she can do in a short time: from 12th to 19th I'll be in Rovigno with my friend Alberto Balbi (photographer) to cover the championship for Apnea Magazine and the paper magazine Il Subacqueo - Pesca in Apnea, I will keep you informed.

I'll be able to give more details in the next few days (I wasn't in siracusa, I only talked to some people over there).

On saturday there was the CB champ as well, but in Italy there's a 65 meter limit..... ok, these are the results:
