lol yeah but you guys know a little more that is why i am up for any info you guys may have scott gave me some pointers today and i will put them into action this sat

Flight out of Peoria may be delayed 2 hours. Oh the fun begins early! My wetsuit is in my checked through bag, my mask, fins and snorkel are with me for carry on. Hopefully I get of of Chi and back there without too much issue. I have not looked at the weather for NYC.

well i hope you have fun with the weather and hope that everything goes well to be able to see you there sat

Well, I could have drove to Chicago in 2.5 hours. The flight took 5. Then missed the connecting flight and the backup connecting flight. Then the 7:30 flight we got on was pushed to 9:40, then 10:00, the to 10:11, then 10:24. Finally got to the hotel at 2:00 Eastern, that's 1:00am for you midwestern folk! Fun Fun.

ouch......that sucks.

I'll be sure your coffee has a bit more octane than usual tomorrow.

One thing we have to look forward to tomorrow is the wonderful weather- they're saying -30 degrees with the windchill- AWESOME! (thanks gene ) I may not want to get out of the water if it's going to be that cold. We'll have to send spongebob (dotey) to go warm up our vehicles Thanks bro!

oh thanks there big bro but i may go start up the cars but hey i aint comeing back lol what is the deal with me being spongbob ? well nobody has to worry about spray bottles i have that under control and i think i may get a couple more cause one they have a deal on them plus that way nobody has to wait in the cold for a spray bottle they can just get in and get to the water

30 below!!!! You guys are CRAYZEE! :t

I hope you don't crack 'yer wetsuits trying to get them off!

Be careful out there guys...

I'm getting cold just thinking about it! Brrrrrr! Someone should call the local news or something!

Ok guys, I finally got a free second at work to look at my route up there tomorrow. 128 miles, so probably 2 1/2 to 3 hours conservatively. So my earlier quote of 10:30 ish will be pretty easy to do.

See you there.......talk about a good test run for that Elios suit. This should be pretty interesting.

ok i will see you guys there and hope to have fun and finally meet you wreckrunner hope that one day i will be able to meet all of the divers from wisconsin and get the joy of diving with all of you

Before everyone drives all the way up there I thought that I would add that I just got off the phone with my father-in-law. He canceled his scuba charter for tomorrow due to the cold and the fact that the waves have been breaking over the breakwall in Milwaukee all day long- which means rough water and crappy vis.

I was out diving the Monona outlet last weekend, in the 50F degree air temps, and the outlet was not on- water was 36F. I went back this week, to show a visiting diver where it was, and the water was flowing like crazy- air temps had dropped quite a bit by then. Fish were in and it looked like a nice day- but, I had the kids with and couldn't dive. With the subzero air temps I would hazard a guess that it's working overtime right now.

Have fun, and be safe, wherever you decide to go.

Jon

I'm going to see if I can find some sort of web cam for sheboygan and check it in the AM- Yeah, I'd hate to drive there and find out it's crappy and undiveable- yet alone have wreck and ILDiver drive all that way too- for nothing. WreckRunner- I will try calling in the AM and let you know before you guys leave.

Sounds good......I'm up if you want to call. ILDiver is in a deep coma after yet another delayed fight........talk about bad luck.

I'm game to go to another site if you want. All I need is an intersection to plug into the GPS and we'll be on the way.

Thanks for the heads-up Jon. Hope to dive with you too on one of these excursions soon.

With the air temp at -10F (-23C) we decided to give the OUTLET in Madison a shot and if it were iced over we would head up to Sheyboygan. Lucky for us, The OUTLET was ON! 2 Stacks going strong. Very Clear water 20-25' Visibility. Lots of Bluegills, some Crappies, a half dozen Carp and about a dozen Muskies- One muskie was pushing 5'! He looked BIG and HUNGRY! Whopperhead, dotey, Wreckrunner & ILDiver all crossed the ice and into the 50 degree water. I ended up with 3 carp (2 common carp and 1 Buffalo) dotey, Wreckrunner, ILDiver each got one carp (right?). We were in the water for about 2 -2 1/2 hours- we would of stayed in longer but it seemed we had gotten all the carp in the area. I had brought the ice shanty and served well as a warming house and a place for us to change out of our suits. We even got a visit from JON! Sorry I didn't post that we were going there today- I wish I would have. All in all it was a good day. Everyone was safe.

*****WARNING*****
Don't leave your pants just lying around - Wreckrunner will put them on and pretend they are his. Just ask dotey :t with no underware rofl.

I do like me some stolen pants, people........I spent some extra time showering after that incident, and I'm sure Dotey boiled the pants.

ILDiver and I learned that a 20lb propane heater in an ice shanty can quickly get out of hand. I think that's what led to the pants mix-up. I was trying to get out of there alive. I was, however extremely relieved to come home with my underwear on.......soooo much easier to explain to my wife.

I couldn't stop laughing during the dive when I realized that had we brought a cooler and ice to put any panfish in, keeping them in there might have warmed them up 22 degrees from the temperature in the back of my pickup. Then I swam face-first into the shelf of ice surrounding the outlet and abruptly stopped laughing.....ah, the joys of trying to become a Wisconsin Spearo.

Thanks guys, that was a blast. Those muskies are really cool. I can't wait to do it again.....definitely going with the sling next time to work those bluegills.

Thanks again to Scott and Dotey for setting up and shooting video/pics. And for lunch!!

definition of irony: asking "Hey Chris, what's the best way to do an entry off the ice?" immediately prior to the ice underneath me breaking apart and dropping me into the water like a dunk-tank at a carnival. That was just a slight bit different than our shore entries in Ft. Lauderdale.

This was the longest trip to and from a Wisconsin spearo trip I've ever had! Wreck, thanks a ton for picking me up, the bed to sleep in and taking me back to O'Hare.

I'm not sure how long I got to sleep, but that doesn't matter, I can sleep in tomorrow. Wreck was in a little shock to start the day, maybe that brain freeze lead to later.....events. The temp was not too bad really. It does make other dives seem so much easier!

Whopperhead asked if we had a lighter to get the heater going. No, but Wreck says his has a starter on it, so we head down the hill. I was pleased to see that there was not as much snow on the hill! Coming down I saw the lil blue shanty, I thought about just holding up in there for the day and napping. Well, maybe not, no heat. Wreck had to run to a gas station for a lighter. The little wire thingy that looked like an electronic starter, wasn't. I prolly should have rolled along with him, but my brain was freezing over and I forgot my manners. So Wreck returns with a means to fire. We set the heat to low and get all geared up.

Once Jeremy gets in the easy way I followed in much the same manner, except I meant to break the ice to fall in after his demo. I got to do it again as I forgot my mask and had to play penguin and slide out of the water onto the ice. Whopperhead and dotey had the Outlet on Lockdown and the carp surrounded, So Wreck and I headed out to the colder parts. Wreck got his first carp about 30 minutes in, but didn't want to get the point dirty so he left the tip cover on. Within 10 minutes of Wreck's kill I had my carp.

There were some good crappie and bluegill in the area. If I had drove up from home and had a cooler, I would have taken some pan fish. I've got to finish my sling for the next trip.

So after swimming around I was hungry and tired. I floated next to the outlet and rested my eyes, but the Muskie kept making me nervous, I'd open my eyes and he would be in my face. So after 2 hours in the pool I got out, followed by Wreck. We cranked the heater up on high to "see what it can do". We turned it down when I realized the top center pole on the shanty was a little warm. El Whoppo would not have liked his shanty melted down. Scott and Odie got out shortly after us.

Wreck announced that there was a reward for some missing underwear. But Dustin soon found them....in Jeremy's pants. Jeremy came to the painful realization that he was commando in another man's pants. I pictured Jeremy rushing home to climb in the shower like Jim Carrey in Ace Venture. "I feel dirty, why won't it wash off" *curled in the fetal position*rofl

It was cold, but much less painful with the shanty for sure. It caught me off guard to see someone charging down the hill, but is was good to see Jon. Sorry we left ya out bro, we felt bad, it's always great to have you along.

Good times guys, good times. Many more to come!

The pics, I should not have made that face. This was one day my face really could have stayed that way for awhile. And the next pic, is Dusten about to kiss that fish?

Alright, sleep time...FEED THE DUCKS!!! I hear they like bluegill!
