Hi, I'm Diana. I'm new to this site, but not a new-be in the ocean. Just want to meet some free divers, as I am newer to this particular sport. I have recently become obsessed with all aspects of freediving, and would like to dive with buddies (obviously). I live in Huntington Beach, California, and have been diving Reef Point, Crystal Cove most recently. I am also looking for a better set of used fins, and a better warmer wetsuit.

Happy posting! :wave

Hi diana. Im in hemet but usually dive in la jolla which is in san diego. Its just me and my friend. Were both in need of better gear aswell. Im workin on a proper wetsuit as of now myself. Ive been freediving 3-4 years on and off. And lately got remodivated to pursue it more seriously. I just completed the FII level 1 course. Tomorrow ill actually be going to san diego to teach some of what ive learned to my dive buddy in the pool and work on statics.

Thanks for the info, and Hey Kenny. I just might be heading out to La Jolla soon, as the leopard sharks are supposed to be back. I live about two hours from there though, do You ever dive further North of La Jolla? Hey how was that FII class btw?

Occasionally well dive in laguna at shaws cove. For me its the same driving distance to either location. The FII class was great. I learned a lot of vital safety skills aswell as breathing and diving techniques. Worth every penny for sure.

oh cool, Hey let me know when u r headed to Laguna. That's about an hour closer for me:) I'm still trying to navigate this site...so bear with me. Yea I'm gonna Take that class for sure:) Who ( which instructor) taught u?

lol, So, was Brandon "gross out" really gross? Thanks everyone, for being nice. Ok, so I'm pretty sure I'm going to reef point again with my nephew on Monday, early. Probably leave HB at like 6 or 6:30. I'm just freediving and hes a spearo, if anyone wants to do a meetup?

Lol.. he wasnt TOO gross.... No but really a cool guy. I dont think he offers a level 2 course but if he does in the future ill probably be taking it. Id love to join on monday but i work. Have fun and be safe!

:( too bad. I forgot to say in my post I work Fri, Sat, and Sun...so on those days if I do dive it would have to be at the crack of dawn...:duhI have weekdays off, but I guess I still dive pretty early. I drove by Huntington city beach on the way home from work, and it looked like freaking Disneyland! There was at least 40 cars in line waiting to get into the beach at 3:30 in the afternoon, at every entrance! Man I loved it when there were less people here, it was cleaner. Well let me know when You do think you could go:cool:

Yeah i prefer diving early aswell to avoid the herds. I get vacation days so im sure ill be able to put in for a weekday off here and there sooner or later. Ill PM you in advance to ensure its a good day to request off.

Welcome to the forums Diana :) - you will find lots of interesting info and helpful people here on DB.

i'm actually up in NorCal but there are many divers who live down south.

MermaidGirl is down near Newport and a host of others.

Brandon is an FII instructor and you can also check out Mark Lozano who is in SD and is an FII instructor offering Level I and II classes as well. Mark teaches in a variety of spots including Hermosa.

And if you want to meet a bunch of us we will all be at the LA Apnea Challenge  the wknd of August 3rd at the Culver City pool - all the details up on Facebook here.

cheers,

kp
