Good spearfishing, especially for yellowtail kingfish , I usually get them between 25-30kg, my best is 33kg, Ive seen far larger ones. But we have crayfish, trevelly and snapper too. and heaps of others as well.

Hi,

I dive the Rangiputa/Cape Karekare area when I get the chance. Have been searching all around for decent scallops but so far no luck. Any hints?

I know what you mean! , damn scallop dredges , Im thinking of going to the BOI so I can get some. I used to get them off puheke beach in about 10 meters of water, havent looked lately though.

I have a hydroplane setup to tow behind the boat allows me to cover a lot more ground on a breathold than normal freediving. I have covered most of Puheke beach and a lot of the Rangiputa harbour using it, so far 1 scallop in about 15m!

Hi, was a while before I could get up there and take these pics. Will get some video in the water soon.
