Lake Garda

Hi,
I'm going on holiday in August to the southern part of Lake Garda.
Can anyone advice if spearfishing is allowed there and what are the regulations?
I have heared that a fishing permit is required but it is hard to find any detailed information about this.
I will appreciate any help.

When in August? We may eventually catch up.
You'll need a license but it's unexpensive and the paperwork is quite simple. Regulations are the usual: only breath hold (no scuba), only in daylight (no night spearing), stay away off ports and harbours, carry a buoy with diveflag, daily bag limit is 5 kg of mixed fish + an eventual single fish bigger than 5 kg itself. You'll be hunting pike, perch, black bass, turbot, carp, tench, catfish, whitefish and on a very lucky day the occasional laketrout. There's currently a temporary ban on cathing eels, but it's likely to be lifted before August. Feel free to ask me any questions as you wish.

Thank you for your reply.
I'm going to be there from 3 of August for 10 days. It would be nice to catch up if you ware around at this time. It's a family hoilday but it looks like it won't be boring for me
I love lake fishing as I started my spearfishing in lakes in Poland. Here in UK it's not alowed to hunt in fresh water but we have the Sea which is also awesome.
Do you know where to get the fishing permit? Is it possble to buy it online?
I will stay at the Bella Italia Camping in Peschiera Del Garda are there any good places to dive around?

I'll be off on my hols from day 5 Aug, so we may have 2 days to eventually catch up. Peschiera is where Deeperblue member Kinky lives at(DeeperBlue.com Forums - View Profile: Kinky). He's an avid spearo and a very nice guy. You may try to contact him too for specific directions in the chrystal clear waters of Peschiera.....However, PM me late in July and we'll see how to arrange.
