Where: Lake Wazee, Black River Falls - Wisconsin

When: July 18,19 & 20 2008

Who: DB Members and their Families

What to expect: Camping, Diving, swimming, spearfishing and lots of Fun!

Your probably thinking "this is like Freedive-a-palooza" - Your right it's at the same lake about the same time of year, BUT Everybody is responsible for themselves. There won't be any set gatherings at any particular time. If we/someone has a line set up to do deeper dives. Only 1 diver at a time with Safety Divers. The diver must have a lanyard connected to the line. If you decide to dive down while someone else is coming up - you are putting yourself at risk and that is something we don't want to see. I don't want to see anybody doing a SOLO dives :naughty. If you decide to Spearfish, make sure you have a License and a BUDDY. I'm sure you won't have a problem finding someone or more than one to go spearfishing with. (i'll have to check, But I think you can only shoot ROUGHFISH)

ALL in ALL this will be alot of fun. Try out Gear, dive clear waters and just sharing good memories with DB Members. :friday
SO, Mark your calenders, Ask off from work.

WHAT TO BRING: Tents, Sleeping Bags all Camping gear, All Dive Equipment, Food, Water/Beverages, Chairs, Swimsuits, Towels, Cameras and Stories to Share.

There are also Hotels not too far from the Lake/campsites.

I'm not sure if I can make it or not. My Birthday is that weekend and vacation the following weekend. It will be tight, but I really want to make this one. Scott, I will see if I can get some release forms.

I will be there.

Is this replacing Freedive-a-palooza

I can also reserve some campsites if needed.

i will be there dont know what storys i will have but heck i like to talk and spearfish so i am sure i can make up a story

I plan on being there with my family they all had a great time last year. That was are great 2007 family vacation. I will be camping in a hotel room because we will have a 4 month old baby girl if all goes as planned. I had friends come up in 07 however they were not able to find us I did not think the lake was that big. This year i Have already invited some friends. I hope we can do a little depth I would like to do better than 32 meters this year i plan to be in better shape however have not done any diving related to wifes pregnancy since sept 07 still feel bad for bailing out at last minute on WreckRunner.

Next year (09), lets try it the last weekend in July...annual Family reunion near Hayward...I may be able to come down for a peek. This year however, I'll be in WA learning the salty world.

Have a great time,

Gene

Gene- I'm sure we can do that- Maybe that way ILDiver will go too. We are a long way from planning that one though

Sadly Im pretty sure that this is the weekend of my Mankato State football team camp. Because of this I will be unable to attend, if something changes I will for sure be in.

i will be bnging lots of bottled water maybe some gatorade as well whopp you said you have coolers right what should we bring as snaks of dinners let me know i will also be bringing some money with me so if we find a buger king close by we can get some grub let me know if there is anything eles you can think of for me to bring in the food or drink dept

OK- so, this is our next EVENT. Wonder who is coming......So, I know in advance. I hope to get up there the day before (thursday) and reserve a couple group sites for camping. Would like to know how many people plan on camping. (dotey I already know you will)

Should be a good time. I am looking forward to diving in this Clear water. I will have a float or 2 set up for line dives- But I don't want people going for world records and would like people to be responsible for themselves. If you're not trained to dive 40', I don't want to see/hear about you trying for 80,100 or whatever. We don't want anyone getting hurt.

This would be a good time to try out gear too. I'll have several masks, fins (Nemo mono) spearguns....ect. If you decide you want to shoot fish (spearfish) get a WI fishing license. If I remember you can only shoot rough fish, which in this lake would be Suckers.

I'm also trying to get a few DB shirts sent this way.

Lets have a FUN and Safe time!

I am trying to get the weekend free, but with a 3 month old baby boy it is hard.

Hey how did all the rains effect the clarity of the lake? Won't she be a little mucky from all the run off?

It's still about 3.5 weeks away- so, I'm sure the vis will be fine. I can call a dive shop up there too and double check. It can be hard to leave a new born. Ask your wife- you never know she might WANT you to leave

I'm hoping to get there also, at this point I'm not sure if it will be for the full weekend, but I should be at Wazee on Saturday. My son might be interested in joining me too.

dang it guys.. I'm gonna miss ya. Even though the Honda Fit gets like 39 mpg I have a trip lined up to south dakota the next weekend for a spearfishing tournament and it gets to be just too many miles back to back for me. And this on another year when my wife has told me the previous year that "next year I'll go to Wazee with you".
I'll be thinkin' about ya.. be safe down there.
Fred

Would there be any room for a snorkel/freediving virgin? The only equipment that I have right now is a scuba mask/snorkel, 7mil wetsuit, and twin jet open heel fins w/boots, so I'd probably resemble a fish out of water compared to everyone else. The mask and fins I could get by with, but the wetsuit would probably be too much. I don't have a weightbelt, dive flag, or any other required equipment. This would be like a starter course for me to see if it's something that I'd like to do in the future, because I've always wanted to try freediving/spearfishing.

I can be there off and on as I live a half hour away. Unfortunately I believe I will be working through that weekend teaching combatives.

Tass, if you need some help teaching, I can come up and toss you around like a rag doll!
