Lanyard to depth cable?

Can anyone get me a close up picture of a "lanyard assembly" for Freediving? I'm trying to put together my own dive platform with a guide line to depth - Attached to that would be a lanyard that the freediver would be connected to to make bad visibilty dives a little less scary!

I want to make it with a timer that will drop a weight at an angle so as to not hit the freediver and to bring the freediver back-up automatically at a pre-set time. Any ideas, drawings, or photos would be appreciated... or am I just crazy for thinking something up like this ?

Now if I could just invent one that'll flip you over, blow air on you, & slap you up a bit!!!! That'd be the ultimate for guys & gals that HAVE to dive solo on occasion.

Here's what I use: My Lanyard - actually I had a couple of these, but everyone seems to want to have one, so I had several made and gave them away at different divemeets and courses. - One of these should be around 16-20€ that's how much I pay, anyway.

Take a look at some of the posts related to freediver counter ballast retrieval systems. I built one and have pictures posted of it in various threads, but others have made, and posted pictures of, much nicer systems. You can also look up some of my old threads on ice (free)diving and see pictures of the lanyards I use- for both ice diving and line diving.

I have heard very good things about the lanyards that Martin S. sells on his FIT freediving site. You can also make your own and there are multiple threads on here which detail how to do it and what kinds of modifications divers have made to theirs.

You should also check out the thread on the freedivers safety vest that's being developed. It will have gas canisters built into the back of it and be triggered by a wrist-mounted computer/timing device with built in back-up's for safety.
