Opinion on these lads,they seem to be very well priced compared to say Omers,Cressis etc ,any info greatly appreciated .

Leader Carbon fins

I have them for 2 years now and they r great. Pure carbon in black and medium stiffnes
I do recommend the leaderfins pure carbon blades especially at the price. I ordered mine directly (to NZ very quick DHL shipping) and had them glued into Pathos Fireblade pockets. Very light combination and very fast and reactive although that may be due to the stiffness (see below).
There are a couple of things to consider. On mine the leading edge of the blade right at the end seemed rough like dry carbon so I put a layer of epoxy over this area. This has since worn away from pool use but I have had no issues.
The most important thing is I DO NOT recommend the stiffest blades. I am a big guy 6'3" and I am broad and heavy. Although I am only just reaching 30+ meters. These blades are very very stiff indeed causing people to chuckle maniacally when they try to bend them by hand.
I struggle surface swimming for extended periods although with my tree-trunk legs these are great fins to lift people for safety practice.

Do you find the combination of Leaderfins blades and Leaderfins foot pockets softer than other fins ? I have 2 different size Leaderfins footpockets. One is a different mold/style and stiffer than the other.
I am wanting to get my 1st set of carbon fins for spearfishing, but have always used booties is there a pos/neg of having foot straps instead of foot pockets? I say this cause I am very comfortable wearing booties- fear of being barefoot

The full footpocket is pretty much universally accepted as somewhat more efficient with regard to energy transfer from the foot to the blade - as opposed to an open heel pocket.
You won't be able to wear dive "boots" but you can use neoprene socks. We carry two basic models of socks, one design has a kevlar reinforced sole, so it is similar to a boot, but still allows your foot to fit into the pocket. With full foot pockets, some people will go barefoot, but you need to match your footpocket size with your foot size and any sock you plan on wearing.

I got the leaderfin carbon, med stiffness in Mares footpockets. Had em almost a year now and I love them. I'm sure there are better carbon blades out there. But for the price point, you cant beat em. These are my first carbon blades (going from the mares plastic freedive fins) and I don't have a single complaint. I ordered them thru J&J Spearfishing in San Diego. They have an online store. I was able to call the dive shop and they answered all of my questions. I live in south Florida and had my fins within a week.
