Wetsuit for Colder Waters (Luxembourg - Portugal)

Hello, i'm a new freediver and i'm about to buy my first Wetsuit (Elios), but i'm still unsure about the lining. I would like to buy (Elios Yamamoto 45 High Performance Superstreching Lining Inside - Superskin Nano Capsule)I I know that Open Cell is warmer than lining but still very fragile. Anyone could recommend something? Thank you very much

Open cell lining is easier to tear than a lined one, but with proper lubrication inside, you shouldn't have a problem.

Like musubi said. If you lube it you won't have a problem. I've worn unlined suits for decades and have never torn one. The great majority of divers in California wear unlined suits.

Open cell suits are definitely warmer. I used mine summer and winter in Alaska, and now in Washington state. My only concession to winter was going to a 9mm top. Like Bill, I've never torn a suit. Not even when standing in the snow in winter in Alaska.

Same experience here, I have used a 6.5 smoothskin Polosub for a couple years and it is an awesome winter suit. If you don't scrape it on rocks or other sharp object it will hold up excellent. Any internal lined suit will just fill with ice water when first getting in. External lined suit with open cell inside will work plenty well too if the stitching doesn't go all the way through. It gets tricky when you try and use the thinner smoothskin suits.
