location on Corsica in France

I have been to Corsica and my spearfishing results were quite bad. We were mostly looking for mullet and just drove around the island trying to find the place with fewer people. In those places we did not see any meaningfull fish except for a murena speared by my father. Later we realized that mullet was actually drawn to the places with a lot of gasoline-powered boats. Apparently it can 'get high' on exhaust fumes and gasoline spills. All mullets I speared smelled of crude oil inside and we did not dare to eat it.

Once I came to the beach located near the restaurant and waited till evening so I would not accidentally spear somebody. I got into water and swam toward that restaurant. I saw, shot at and missed some large tuna-looking fish. Than I realized that because the restaurant was dumping waste into the water in that location the underwater life there was pretty active. Except I did not want to spear there any more.

Overall I was not impressed with Corsica and would not recommend anybody going there in summer. Maybe it is better some other time. Also we have not seen a single fishing boat that tells me that there are not that many fish there. We also have not seen a single spearfisher. Unless you know some local spearfishers that can recommend a spot I suggest you try elsewhere
