Im assuming the t-laminate is done after the 4 laminates are glued? and which way is up?
Yes that is right, we glued the the strips together with polyurethane glue & let them settle for a few days. A groove was cut on the saw bench & the fifth strip inserted using the same glue & re-clamped from all directions.
After some basic shaping to form a tapper from one end to the other I added another strip to each side & one to the bottom so the "T" ended up in the middle of the stock.

Well thanks, I really enjoy making the guns & I have thought of two really radical designs for the next ones. I have this idea for a couple of big guns, they need to be big for the design to be effective. I am thinking about open water 3 band guns - of course they wont be of any use to me where I live but who cares!
Well the spearo season comes to an end quite soon, at least for me as the days draw in & the urge to return to the workshop increases.
So I am thinking about a big gun to use up the last trigger unit, I have been using the teak enclosed track quite a bit this summer & I like the gun - however! .......
I found the track did seem to absorb some power but when I modified the muzzle & fitted two 16mm bands the gun was awesome. Very sooth & accurate, definitely different to fire from a open track but predictably nice.
On that basis I feel a big 3 band gun is on the cards but as I said "of no use to me" still who cares I can hang it on the wall.
It might cost you bit for the postage mate - a 1.4mt gun made from marine ply is going to weigh a bit out of water!

The gun did not have perfect balance - fitted with a 7mm spear the muzzle was slightly heavy in the sea so I decided to add wings.
I also decided to completely coat the gun with an epoxy microballon mix, I am on my 4th coat, sanding in between coats but this is turning into a labour of love!
The intention is to cover the gun in an even layer & gradually work though the sandpaper grades until I have a mirror like plastic coating!

Wow! I'm quite impressed. Your creations are an inspiration. I'm planning on making 1-3 blue water guns this summer. I've been considering a solid Padauk stock in the 54" range. I'm also trying to figure out the best way to make them mid-handle. If you ever tackle that problem, put up a post. Thanks for all the good pictures-
