I may be spending some time in Sudbury Ontario and noticed that there is a really deep meteoric lake within the confines of the city limits!

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Wanapitei

142M!

Should be great for freediving... Now all I need is another Freediver as a buddy!

Anyone?

Correction!

It's over 700+ ft deep, as verified by someone who's lived on the lake all his life and had a fish / depth-finder!

That should be enough for freediving, right? ;)

Anyone interested in some Sudbury apnea? There's also a 5M deep pool that I'd try to get for DYN / pool work.

Hello, are you still looking for a freediving buddy in Sudbury? I'm recently certified eager to dive.

Sudbury is 4.5 hrs away from me... But I'd make the trek to get to dive Wanipitae!

It's on my list of spots to dive in Canada that I have to check off.

I have a Kayak that can fit a second person on the back of and can work well for a 1-2 km paddle if needed to get out to appropriate depth, depending on where we can launch from.

I use the kayak as a float and hang the bottom weight and rope from it.

Do you have a 5mm wetsuit?

Hi, great to hear from someone interested in diving the north. The kayak idea sounds great.
I do have have a 5mm freedive wet suit. I haven't dove wahnapitae but I can do some research on the best put-in.
Let me know whenever you'd like to come up.

I think late July to mid-sept would be smart from a water temp standpoint.

I might also get to Tobermory a few times this year... So you might be able to get there "from the north side" if interested.

Sounds good.
I've been in touch with freedive toronto and hope to dive Tobermory with them as well.
Summer weekends are always busy but I hope to get in as many dives as I can.
Please keep me in the loop.
There are no freedivers here in sudbury; I hope to spark some interest.
