yesterday I received oximeter... I tryied hold my breath. :) of course. 99oxigen 74-79 heart rate...
Held it to the point of 90oxigen, heart slowed down to 50. Didn't time it.

After the hold... back to 99oxigen but heart rate stayed 55 suprisingly...

Is that why in second, third hold we perform better?

Interesting... in my case, while I haven't measured it, it feels like it takes quite a few holds for any DR to kick and I'm sure my HR will be lower too.

tested again today... in work :D so 77-88hr 98saturation... hold until 90saturation (btw that's also, when I get strong urge to pee, always).

after hook ups, back to 99 but heart rate stayed 64...

Did your HR rise immediately after the hold once you began to breathe again before dropping? Sounds like I may have a lower resting HR (55-60) but for me mine will drop during apnea but typically shoot up to maybe 150% or more of resting within seconds of when I start to breathe again, then drop back down to normal resting (or normal for level of exertion since I do a lot of dynamics) as soon as I have reoxygenated and vented high CO2. Apnea drop in HR is happens most rapidly on the first few holds for me, and much faster on empty lung. I think everybody tends to respond differently depending on genetics and training. What is your normal resting HR? Have fun with the monitor--I like mine and feel like it is an excellent training tool.

wow, interesting. I don't have the luxury of the oximeter, but do definitly notice an ease as I do more breath holds, As I have been trying to increase my breath hold and lower my heart rate by doing underwater laps in a pool, coupled with sprint swim laps and my stamina seems to be increasing at a nice rate

aye! oximeter is geek isn't it... I don't train heavy as you do, I'm more leisure, I try to squeeze what I can from "this is as I was build"... It's not my life to be a freediver... and I'm quiet new, here. So the only way I can squeeze is technique I guess. I'm not planning more than 15 metres.
Mine question was more why we tend to hold longer after first, second attempt and that little digi-machine has given me idea :D

For me my second breath hold is when my heart rate drops way off.today i went for a new PB static and right around 20 seconds my HR felt almost to come to a stop. Obviously it didnt but i couldnt feel it any longer.
