Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Not this weekend, but next weekend we might be able to make a trip down to Madison. If nothing else I'm going to try and convince the guys to skip a day of school to get down there. Its still not legal to spear in Portage county for a couple more days. And we are all itching to sink a spear into a carp....or two!

Winker said that spearing opens in portage county tomorrow I think, but maybe not I dont know.

Yeah too bads its really crappy weather today, or i would've tried to get in the Plover river.

Where do you guys go in the Plover? I've been to a few spots and they've all looked pretty shallow. The suckers are are running right now too.

hey im the plover king and actually shot a sucker that could have been the state record....but we go at the very end of the plover, before the spillways that go into the wisconsin..and also sometimes we go at the bottom of the dam after mcdill pond.. where the water flows the are a bunch of suckers and along the weeds are carp hidden...and the max ive dove in the plover and that was ten feet...average is about 5

Has anyone been in either Mendota or Monona lately? How's the vis? I was thinking about coming down this coming friday to poke some fish, if anyone's interested in going.

I am going down there today - not sure which lake I will end up at- going to check them all.

Lake Mendota was about 15' vis, I didn't check Monona. Water Temp was 48 degrees- hardly any fish.

Dove Maple Bluff and Governor's Island on Mendota today. Vis was good by Governor's island, about 15 ft. Maple Bluff was so so, the Warner Bay side was about 10 ft, as I moved around the bluff it got gradually greener, with 4 ft being the worst. Mostly just dove, but did poke a few crappies for dinner :). Boat traffic was light and everyone was respectful of the dive flag.
