Did anyone see that magazine article in Popular Science about freediving. It's pretty good I think, it's in the July 2003 issue.

'super vents'... is that like 'purging'?... sounds like another term for what is basically hyperventilation?

i would say 'super' is a slight misnomer in that case! :t
 
I read that too and it was a perfect description of my breatheup. Too bad I had to learn it the hard way!

I think that a real mild hyper (3-5 breaths) is ok. I have only had one very mild hypoxic incident ever, and I was pushing it harder than I should have (i.e. I kind of deserved it and now know better).
