make your own neckweight?

Hi! I will start to do dynamics but can't find any neckweights here in Gothenburg. Think I will make my own. - bicycle tube with lead pieces..would that work?
- Does anyone know a construction that worked well? I guess its important to be able to add and redraw small pieces of weight to find the perfect neutral bouyance?

Many divers have several weights. For cwt you probably need a different weight as for dyn. You best try different weights from your buddies in order to get a clue of how heavy your weight should be.

yea. I have a tube so i guess i'll just try to put in as much led as needed to stay neutral at about 1 1/2 meters.. for dynamic that is. ..i'll have to try it out.

For DNF training I use a normal shortened weight belt and 5 x 2 kg weights (no wetsuit). This is handy because I train with alot of people with no weights, so this is easy to adjust for them. Is it perfect, probably not. For serious competition, I would probably make my own custom weights and wear a good wetsuit.

Sorry, my mistake. 5 x 2 pound weights (about 4.3 kg when you weigh it) makes me neutral with no packs.

I use .5 lb lead "chicklets" that are commonly used for scuba guys as ankle weights. I can get 10-12 around my neck without then hanging down too much. If more weight is needed, I can add a second neckweight / layer of chicklets inside of the main one.

I string them on 25mm nylon webbing and a plastic clasp, as found at REI, MEC, etc.

Works well and is adjustable for different suit thicknesses, salt vs fresh water, etc.

This is my current config. .5lb chicklets with a hefty wrapping of freediver (electrical) tape. I'm pretty happy with it and its also more streamlined than the standard lead shot, droopy inner tubes.

My chin fits in perfectly in a tucked position.

8.2 lbs (3.7 kg)

16 "chicklets" plus .2 lbs of webbing, a buckle, but mostly electrical tape!

It's quite compact, as the lead is a .5lb solid, as opposed to all the air space that is in between the lead shot in an standard inner tube weight.
