The Elektropribor Company that manufactures the forward latching RPP guns and the "Wasp" models with a friction trigger have just announced a new gun in their "Shark" series, the "Mako Z55". The only details known so far are that it has a stainless steel 11 mm ID inner barrel and can shoot either 7 mm or 8 mm diameter spears. It can be fitted with a reel and I assume it is a floater after the shot. For now this is the only photo available.

At one time Russia and Ukraine had rather uninspiring pneumatic spearguns produced by State factories that made many buyers want to look elsewhere, but in the last couple of years new guns are almost coming out of the woodwork! This latest model appears to follow the same layout offered by Pelengas as the rear handle clamps over a full length tank tube. It is in fact a design type that has a long history in that part of the world, but lacked injection molded parts and thus such handles were of composite matrix construction. Whereas it was once rare to find local production, floating after the shot spearguns, they are now becoming much more common, and the Italians who previously dominated these markets on a worldwide basis now have some serious competition.

No more recent mention of it and the gun is not listed on the manufacturer’s website.

There is another "Shark" model which has been around a long time and the "Wasp" with its friction locking muzzle and the "RPP-4" guns which are another version of the mid-handle RPP models. Possibly the Mako Z55 gun's production has not progressed, note that in these last photos the yellow over handle is not present.

Close-up photos of the left and right hand sides of the gun's grip handle which were taken at about the same time as the above.

The gun has an 11 mm diameter inner barrel and a 35 mm OD tank. Looks like a reel may fit on the front of the trigger finger guard as there appears to be a mounting system on the frame.

The complete set for the gun can be read from the underlying brochure. It consists of the gun, a hand pump, a M7 spear tip (“Bullet”), a spear of 7 mm diameter and a spear of 8 mm diameter both threaded for a M7 spear tip, a loading handle, line slides for the 7 mm and 8 mm shafts and a zippered carry case.
