MAMBA 101...for dummies

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Thx Ulysses, that link is a great step by step tutorial :)

But what it doesnt show is what modifications u need to do to your spear...

Well, that's fairly uncomplicated:

1. Unscrew the shaft butt
2. Remove everything from the original shaft (ss ring, spring, slider), unless it's a Devoto shaft
3. Install in the following order:
3.1 Devoto slider (for line attachment)
3.2 shaft o-ring
3.3 Maori slider (sealing cylinder)
3.4 additional o-ring (to prevent premature breaking of the Maori slider)
3.5 Maori ss ring
4. Screw shaft butt back on (use teflon tape or appropriate glue on the thread first)

Cheers,
ulysses

LOL thx Ulysses, Does that apply to all kits or just mamba?
As i was under the impression with other kits u need to removoe the shaft butt completely and then somehow prevent the slider from coming off after u fire it.

It applies to the mamba-kit and all mamba-clones (kara-yo karamba [line attachment & sealing slider is one piece], poseidon, etc.)

Only the kara-yo tovarich does not have a slider on the shaft and no shaft butt (pic posted above). On the tovarich the line is attached directly to the shaft (hole in the front, approx. 10cm below the flopper).

Cheers,
ulysses

OK got it thx da'Fox....

Is it necessary to replace the muzzle ( you call it a piston or is the Muzzle & Piston to different animals?) that is, can the mamba seal be made for a cyranos muzzle or do I need to make a muzzle too.

OK if I make the muzzle what do I need to incorporate into the muzzle.
The reason I'm trying to get into the "nitty-gritty" is here

Cousy and all others looking for a Mamba set up in U.S. I too have encountered a similiar situation...I just posted a thread in same section Mamba for dummies...to analyze the mech, and hopefully manufacturer a mamba system locally, since my line or work as an ID might facilitate the process..I'm hoping with the info gathered it will be do-able

WOW just read everything else that has been posted...I was hoping you too would chime in Ulysses-thanks...I just figured out you are not the same Ulysses that owns the dive shop near my studio-I will send you a PM later today...TY also for the pictorial I will try to post them later here so as to have a local reference...things are a bit hectic with the spearfishing contest we are organizing here in Miami and the sponsors (which you are not, its the other Ulyrofl)
