CARP-O-RAMA

Saturday- March 22, 2008

9am

Where: ?????? Lets Vote on it.

The Ice should be gone by then, Some of the guys who went dorment for the winter will be itching for the spear. Get a early start on cleaning out some of the Carp before they start their spawning season. (I'm sure there will be some innocent PANFISH Casualties as well :))

Keep in Mind this is the DAY before Easter. Just a FYI.

i am up for any lake i go were ever you go but i went ahead and voted too so well see were we go. either way i am up for slaying some carp

I voted Golden because I liked the action we had last time. I have not been to Mendota, Rock or Green Lakes. I know you guys talked up Mendota before, would be willing to give that a go.

Also in March, I'd like to have one or two people down here to try the pond and the fishing club that I've spoke of. Just throwing it out there since I just remembered. Or, Scott if you came down a day early for the Florida run maybe we could go out there. hang the gear and it should be dry to pack up.

I remember a few years where there was still ice on the Madison lakes during march 22

Well- If we run into that this year- then our decisions will be easier.

I vote Golden if the ice is "out" by then. #1 because I KNOW of some real hippo's in there and #2 because of the parking and facilities little 'ol lady Miller will open for us. Maybe even hot water and the shower's! I can always call her and set it up...But again...Sometimes there is still alot of ice - But hopefully not this year!

I'm in.........I voted Golden Lake, but it really doesn't matter to me. Wherever you guys think the conditions will be best when the time comes.

And I finally have an avatar.

I have april's event plan-

When: APRIL 10th, 2008
Where: Ft Lauderdal, FL. The Ocean
What to bring: All gear, a dish to pass and some shark repelant
What to expect: Good times, Warm water and plenty of scenery (under the water of course)

Who's in?

I'm in on the April dive. Scott, if your available I can do the 6th too! Were should we meet up? Maybe Wreck can help us with that. He said something about a friend and a boat.

Ive never been in lake menona, but isnt it supposed to have huge buffalo carp. And it only gets to be something like 20ft deep? that sounds like a party to me.

i voted Mendota but Monoa also would be good for me coming from MN plus i haven't tried ether of them! looking forward to this should be a good time!

I can pretty much GUARANTEE that there will be ice on some or most of these lakes on the 22nd - Unless things heat-up real fast...Which it can and sometimes does.

Looks like "The Outlet" may be the "safest" bet possibly...As far as ICE goes anyways...

I HAVE to get out somewhere by then...I'm starting to feel "all dried out" and I need a break bigtime...:duhMy poor wife does too. I'm gonna work on getting TWO babysitter's for the WHOLE day and send my wife away too! With a little "shopping" money ofcourse! rofl

Too bad I probably won't have my "open cell" YET...But my Scuba Pro Farmer John and jacket will have to do.

:martialNo matter what....On the 22nd, I'm getting wet...Somewhere....And fish are gonna die!:martial

If we get to the 22nd and the lakes are frozen- well take another vote- between The OUTLET at lake Monona and The OUTLET in LAKE MICHIGAN SHEBOYGAN. Bgill- You are planning on getting a "Dive skin" suit right- I heard they only take 2 weeks.

WE'LL SEE - WE'LL SEE - WE'LL SEE

Yeah.....They are QUICK! Problem is finances at this point....I had to "pop" for new tires on my wifes Van because they were just getting to be too bad. I discovered that because my Work van recently took a dump too! :vangry It's pretty much hardly worth fixing...:waterwork It was a trusty 'ol van 'til 'er timing belt broke and somehow caused major motor damage...:vangry

So now we only have ONE vehicle...I use IT for work ALL day right now. We are also expecting to be moving into our (hopeful) NEW home in Delavan soon. We'll know for sure Tuesday. Right now all "fun things" have been put "on hold" as far as money goes....I really need to get another vehicle for work SOON more than anything else right now...

Anyone within' a few hundred miles have a CHEAP yet reliable vehicle for sale? By cheap I mean under $1000.00....:head
I know you can't get much of a vehicle for that nowadays...but things are just a little tight this year. We (my business) had a slow December and January - as I was scheduled "off" alot while my wife was on bed-rest. I'm feeling that time off now...But on the other hand, there has been LOTS of work in lately and I bet I'll get some good tax credit for the twins too!

I'm still hoping for the "settlement" money to come in from a small claims court case I won...Some Plumbing company I did a job for tried to stiff me on my bill...I took them to court and kicked their butts! :t Hopefully I'll get paid now! That money is EARMARKED for my Diveskin suit...No matter what...I earned it! Twice now!

No worries...I'll be good, even with my scuba suit...I had no problem's in Lake Michigan's cold water for hours on end last year. I plan on Diving on the 22nd - even if we are moving. I'll need the break.

A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do...Right now I have other priorities so the wetsuit is yet again "on hold" until I save up the money again or I get the settlement check from my court case....I may have to have it "garnished" off of his wages or something stupid...But in time I'll get my new wetsuit 'fer sure, one way or the other.

See you guys on the 22nd!

Due to the Ice still on most Lakes.

Looks like this CARP-O-ROMA will be at the OUTLET in Madison, WI. Unless we have alot of cold weather, The ice should be gone even if the Pipe is not on. If the water is open We WILL find the carp! Blood will be spilled :martial

I usually eat somewhere in Madison after I'm done diving. I'll also have T-shirts, Sweatshirts and beanies if anyone wants to buy any. I've gotten the Sweatshirts and Beanies and so Far I've been impressed with the quality! The T's come today.

Bgill- If you feel up to it next Friday. Swing by Golden to see if the ice is on or off. Otherwise I'm planning on being at THE OUTLET.

The one who gets the MOST CARP on this day WINS A FREE Sweatshirt!!

Was by there today...Still locked up tight....In a hurry though...GOING TO GO CLOSE ON MY HOUSE!!!! :)

Then I got about two weeks to get ALL of my stuff outta here! I can't wait!

---------------------------------------------------------------------

EDIT: Me & the Family just got back from having pizza at our new house! Domino's delivery!!!

Man, I must've signed my name about 60 or 70 times atleast...My hand actually cramped up a little!

I have'nt had a dent in my index finger like that since I was in high school!!!!roflWell, except from a polespear! :t

Permit requirements and application process

A permit is needed if any of the following apply: more than $10,000 in prizes is awarded, there are more than 20 boats or 100 participants; the tournament targets trout on classified trout waters, or the fish are weighed off-site and then released live.

Fees are $25 for tournaments offering the immediate release format, or those where prizes are less than $500, or target Great Lakes trout or salmon, for which anglers already pay a $10 stamp on top of their fishing license. Fees are $100 for catch-hold-release format or catch-kill format and prizes between $500 and $9,999, and $200 for tournaments offering the same formats but more prize money.

Organizers submit a permit between April 1 and June 30 for a tournament in the following year. If a monthly limit on tournaments on the same water is reached -- with the limits varying according to waterbody size -- tournament organizers will be asked if they want to change their location or date or be subject to a lottery. Traditional fishing tournaments -- those which have received permits in 4 of the last 5 years – get preference and are generally not subject to a lottery. In addition, one tournament will be allowed each year on any one water to tournament organizers who can demonstrate a need to lock down the date up to three years in advance.

According to that document, we don't need a permit. And really our event is not a tournament. The prizes we have arranged are donations and a reason to get people out and dive. But the dive itself is not a tournament, it's a gathering of divers. The single sweatshirt prize does not constitute a tournament.

We are no where near being on anyones radar as a disturbance to other fishermen. There is a always a debate as to wether we should hide from the public. If you do, your numbers appear small and they target to eliminate you. If it ever becomes an issue, then you stand up, be accounted for and educate those people as to why we are of no threat.

No one really knows that we exist. I was at Golden lake when a fishermen asked us questions. We told him what we were doing, showed him a big carp and told him where we saw some bass and all was pleasant.

We have avoided publicity, intentionally and I know of one person that declined to be interviewed for a newspaper article. We pick our battles.

There is nothing to fear. Enjoy this time, we have a lot of good divers with solid minds. We are not a bunch of Cowboys. Only one Cowboy, but we are helping Wreckrunner Northernize :)

There in lays a problem. I send you news to judge for yourself and right away you take it as an attack. I post to let you know there has been some deliberations on the subject. Its up to you guys to figure out if your legal. Me personally I am not planning on participating. I am aware of what a hot bed this whole contest issue is up here in Wisconsin. I thought you would like to know. btw what are are you guys doing with that toxic waste any way? hope
it isn't going on a food plot.
