I am new to spear fishing, but love snorkeling and fishing so it's a natural marriage. I don't plan on doing super deep dives or going after the monster tuna, mostly shore fishing with some fishing at around 50' max. I have narrowed it down to these two guns and I was hoping the resident experts could weigh in. I am 6' tall and not a slender guy, so from reading around I shouldnt have a problem loading either gun. I was leaning towards the Mare, but since I live in Miami, being a first time gun owner, I know I can the Persistent to the manufacturing facility and get it serviced if I have any issues. Their customer service is supposed to be top notch. The persistent also comes with a better shaft, which I probably would have to replace the stock one on the Mare. The Mare I heard you had to send off if you have any problems. I can get either one for a similar price so cost isn't an issue unless you factor in the cost of a new shaft for the Mare.
