So I am looking for a new mask but I have a big head!
I want good all round vis from a big mask - does anyone have any recommendations?
I will be using the mask for hunting not deep diving but I know you free diving chaps are the source of knowledge when it comes to masks
Thanks Mart.

If you want glass, the aquasphere falco is the glass version of the sphera and is quite wide.

For something a little different... The cressi Pinocchio is wide, very retro and has very good upwards visibility. It has a med to large volume tho.

Thanks, I can see the Zero for sale at Apnea @ £26 seems pretty cheap!
I rarely dive deeper than 10mt while spearfishing, a good fit (wide face) & good vision is what I require...

I haven't tried it or seen it myself - sounded really promising on paper but reviews are not fantastic sadly. But you might get lucky with the fit, sounds like it could fit a wider face better.

What do you currently use?

If you have the time to dig around, the Sporasub Mystic also sounds like good value for money. Haven't used it either so not sure about field of vision etc but remember reading positive comments overall (although freedivers are a bit obsessed with low volume). Also not sure it has glass lenses

Hey! I have an O.ME.R. Bandit mask. Great visibility, very low volume, soft skirt, etc. This is a great mask and I would highly recommend it to you. But the O.ME.R. Zero 3 looks pretty cool.

The Mystic is my personal favorite mask by far. It has great visability and glass lenses.

Well I use an Omer Alien with mirrored glass but it is old & has always been a tight fit & a Cressi Big eyes that has a restrictive field of view!
I am surprises at how cheap these masks are nowadays I am sure I paid over £50 for mine 7-8 years ago!
The Mystic looks good too but is it a wide fit?

I am not sure the Omer is for you. TEST it for FREE LIVE in the WATERS. Join the TEST IT AND PASS IT ON tour of the OMER Zero 3 mask.

I personally recommend the IST PRESTO mask for you big head!

Hi Mart,

Just wanted to say that the Sphera (I think it's now being made by Technisub, rather than Aquasphere as in the old days?) fits very wide faces with a great seal IME.

Also equalization is super easy with the Sphera, and you waste very little air with the very low volume.

The catch is a lot of spearos claim that with the lenses that are curved at the sides and preipheral vision distortion you get with the Sphera, you can't shoot accurately.

It's funny, but I have found that I adapt to the Sphera lenses very quickly, and the view doesn't even look distorted to me after a few seconds.

OTOH, the Sphera is somwhat flimsy compared to some of the other brands, and perhaps a lot of spearos want a tougher mask? I personally have never broken one underwater, but some people have.

I'm the same as you when it comes to distortion. The plastic lenses do scratch over time with heavy use though and some clarity of vision is lost over time...

I think that fit is more important than low volume, in fact I rather fancy some of the retro looking mask - it would be just like a big circle going back to 30 years ago when all mask were single pane high volume!
I once owned a mask called a "max view" (as did lots of spearos) it was a huge thing with three separate panes of thick glass, one on the front & one on each side!

I don't know if you've made a choice yet but I picked up an oceanic shadow at a dive exhibition for £30 over a year ago and I haven't got a bad thing to say about it.
Very tough feeling and wide fitting- I haven't got a narrow face by any means and it is close to being too wide but still seals nicely.
The field of vision is excellent and it is advertised as being low volume but it's definitely not as low as the freedive specific masks. Which hasn't proved an issue at the depths I've dived.
Hope this helps
