Hi has anyone got experience of a Tribord Seamax 100 mask?

Some pools are anal about using metal objects or glass lenses, so I was wondering if this inexpensive mask would be good for doing dynamic training in a pool. Why not, I think.

It seems to have a wide field of view so I also thought it could be good for spearfishing. Has anyone done dives with this mask? Its labeled as a snorkeling mask, so it makes me wonder if you can go deeper than 10m with this one...

I'd appreciate if there are any experiences about the volume, how easily the lens is scratched or if the view is distorted...

There was a black version as well but I did not find it anymore...

Thanks for the input.

Pool rules aside, I trained for years in a relatively high-volume mask that was better suited for SCUBA...but it had prescription lenses and was in my price range. In a pool, the volume is not really that big an issue. Comfort and fit are. So, if the pool says OK, then you're right..."why not". Now, there is something to be said about diving the gear you'll use in comps, if that's your goal. Good luck, post pics!

Jappo, the black version is the Tribord Seamax 500 mask, which Decathlon have taken out of their range.
I have a friend who dives with it. He got it on a special offer from Decathlon for under 10 Euros. They still seem to stock it occasionally in the UK. http://www.decathlon.co.uk/seamax-500-mask-black-id_8304568.html
He goes down to 20-25 m with it, but it's officially a snorkeling mask, as you say, but then again the Sphera is offically labeled as an enhanced swimming mask.
My friend claims the FOV is almost the same as the Sphera. The volume differs somewhat as it's a single lens mask and compression works differently. Having a plastic lens it's just as prone to scratches as the Sphera.
In the pool I usually use a transparent Sphera. The pool attendants where I go don't like black masks, even if they have plastic lenses.

William, thanks for your answer, exactly the info I needed. I'll keep an eye on it and get it next time when travelling. There are no decathlon stores here in Finland...

During my dyn sessions in the pool I just use swimming googles, sometimes I add a nose clip...

Works in the pool, but I was fixated on finding a mask for spearfishing at the same time...
