Hi,
after some experience (couple of years) with carbon bifins (c4 25) I would like to move to a monofin, mainly for costant weight (training using it in pool, clearly). I live in Italy, close to mat-mas, so I plan to buy one of their monos. After looking their site and speaking with them I am undetermined between the fiberglass and the mixed fiberglass-carbon models. Mat-mas measures the stiffness of their monos in kgp (kg "push" or "pressure", I think). The fiberglass model is 6 kgp (the less stiff they sell, usually for beginners in finswimming), the mixed is 8 kgps (the less stiff they produce in carbon, usually for long distance finswimming competitions).

I know best choice would probably be to buy the fiberglass model, keep it until used to the new technique, then move to the stiffer one but... they are not cheap at all and here in Italy we do not have a market large enough to have good chance of reselling it when moving to the new model.

I read several posts but most of them speak about other models not mat-mas. Any of you tried mat-mas and can help me? More in general, is a pure carbon worth? Is it too stiff? I am 178cm and weight 72kilos.

Any suggestion's welcome.

Ciao
G.

I have used their monos. I don't recommend the carbon ones. The KSP9 fiberglass is pretty good, a little too soft for my liking. The stiffness scale is different for fiberglass & carbon. For example, KSP9 fiberglass is softer than KSP9 carbon.
